GOALS

To operate a successful business and create an exceptional brand experience for my customers. Om is a company grounded in providing a meditative experience with naturally sourced, hand-poured candles. Our goal is to revolutionize the candle industry to become more eco-friendly and pure.

I actively pursued this endeavor in hopes to gain first hand experience and raw insight into the business world to be more able to intuit clients needs in my professional life.

CONTEXT

Om began as an assignment in the Homegrown Collaborative Design Studio at UC. As a team, we were tasked with designing a product, producing that product and making a profit in a 14-week time period.

We began by asking โ€œHow can we create a product that is environmentally friendly, multi-functional and also makes a good gift for the holiday season?โ€ After conducting market research we decided to pursue candle making as there is a gap in the market for a sustainable, quality candle product.

Our goals were to create an experience, a unique vessel (the homegrown base), and connect with nature. We began to experiment, prototype, and test. After several weeks, hundreds of sketches, and lots of hard work we created the final product line. This is the Homegrown Collection that launched Om in November 2019.
